How long is an essay?
University essays are typically 1,500–3,000 words for undergraduate coursework and 3,000–5,000 for advanced modules. Stay within 10% of the stated limit — most institutions penalise beyond that, and some stop reading at the limit.
What makes a good thesis statement?
It must be arguable, specific and answer the actual question. 'This essay will discuss social media' is a topic. 'Algorithmic curation, not user choice, drives political polarisation on social platforms' is a thesis.
